Therapeutic Recreation

What is Therapeutic Recreation? Therapeutic Recreation is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery and well-being.

The Salina Parks and Recreation Department has a strong Therapeutic Recreation program to offer Salina and the surrounding areas. There are multiple activities offered on a weekly basis. Activities are most often held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and there are usually activities every week of the month!

Some of the activities offered are Fit Ball, 30/30 Club, Bowling at The Alley, an afternoon movie at the AMC theater, Design Time, Healthy Cooking, Cooking Class, and holiday parties. These activities on average last between an hour to an hour and a half. Transportation to and from these events and activities are also available for a small additional price!
