Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an online account?

The answer to this question is quite easy - just follow these few steps!

1. Go to www.salinaparks.com and in the middle of the page there is a blue box that says ONLINE CATALOG  Click the word DISCOVER in that box!

2. This will take you to a new window, don't be scared! You're still doing everything right. In the upper left hand corner, it has an option to Log In/Create an Account - click that. 

3. Click the blue button that says "Create your Salina Parks and Rec account." This will pull up another box - in this box, fill out the information. This step is for the account holder. ALL account holders must be 18 and over. (You can add additional account members in the next step!)

4. When you've filled out all that information, you can click "Next Step: Other Account Members." This will give you the opportunity to add more members to the account (husband, wife, children, etc.) 

5. Click "Save & Close" and viola! You are now a happy holder of a Salina Parks & Recreation account! You can now register online for sports, special events, activities, and check the availability of parks, shelters, and buildings for rent!

What is the rental fee for your park shelters and neighborhood centers?

PARK SHELTERS:

The shelters located in the various parks are all $15 per hour with a two hour minimum. These shelters include the shelters in Bill Burke, Centennial, East Crawford, Indian Rock, Jerry Ivey, Kenwood, Lakewood, Oakdale, Oxbow, Sunset, and the Soccer Complex. 

The shelters in Steve Hawley, Hawthorne, Pacific, Phillips, and Woodland Parks are all on a first come, first serve basis. 

You can NOW reserve park shelters online! Keep in mind, shelter reservations made online are PENDING the approval of Recreation Staff. If the reservation is approved, you have 5 days after the approval to make your payment to finalize the reservation. Click on the Online Catalog on the home page of the Salina Parks website to reserve your shelter now!

NEIGHBORHOOD CENTERS:

The Neighborhood Centers are $22 per hour with a two hour minimum. These buildings include the Friendship Center and the Carver Center. All Neighborhood Centers are currently only available to rent from 8am until 8pm.

We also offer the KIVA building located in Thomas Park and the Indian Rock Lodge. These two buildings are $15 per hour with a two hour minimum. These buildings do not have running water, a kitchen area, bathroom facilities, or heating/air conditioning.

 

**Effective 11/30/2020, Neighborhood Centers are not available to rent on city recognized holidays.

**All renters MUST fill out a Facility Use Request Form before renting a shelter or community building.**
